Jaerv U.S. tour

One of Sweden's most inventive folk bands, Jaerv, will perform at the Swedish American Museum tomorrow, Sept. 16.

Jaerv is on a U.S. tour, and if you're lucky enough to be close to Chicago's Swedish American Museum (www.swedishamericanmuseum.org), among other places, prepare to be seduced by the melodic tunes of this award-winning group.
The Swedish quintet presents extroverted, vigorous and heartfelt folk music with influences from both jazz and pop music. Together, the five members create a homogeneous, vivid sound which has established Jaerv on the folk music scene as well as in many other forums. Rooted in several different musical traditions, Jaerv offers a varied stage performance where vocal, five-voiced tunes blend in with energetic dances and free improvisations. Jaerv has done several tours in the U.S., played live at BBC Scotland and performed twice at the biggest folk festival in northern Europe, Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
Jaerv will be performing at Shawbucks in Jamestown, NY (www.shawbucks.com) on Sept. 7 and a day later in Cleveland Heights, OH. After concerts at Scandinavian Day in South Elgin, IL - www.scandinaviandayil.com - and in Minneapolis, MN, the group performs at the Swedish American Museum in Chicago on Sept. 16 www.swedishamericanmuseum.org.
