1766: The first press law (“tryckfrihetsförordning”) is adopted in Sweden, with rules regarding official documents and a ban on censorship. In 1949, this press law was adopted as one of Sweden’s “grundlagar” (the Swedish constitution).

1900: Sweden’s population has reached 5,136,441. Stockholm alone has 300,000 inhabitants.
